Amid Eternal Silences
Adapted from Frederick William Faber’s “The Eternal Word”
Amid eternal silences,
None hears but He who speaks.
O marvelous! O worshipful!
Our God, we do confess.
Creation waiting in His mind,
The galaxies are black.
O marvelous! O worshipful!
Our God, we do confess.
No song or sound is even heard.
His glory rends the dark.
O marvelous! O worshipful!
Our God, we do confess.
Christ, creating, still He sits,
The Spirit, hov’ring, still.
O marvelous! O worshipful!
Our God, we do confess.
His majesty expressing not,
No eye yet sees His light.
O marvelous! O worshipful!
Our God, we do confess.
In love, in wisdom, and in power,
He speaks, Eternal Word.
O marvelous! O worshipful!
Our God, we do confess.
